Lists

I make lists all the time and stumbled upon a notebook from last year of ideas of things and ornaments I wanted to make. None of the items were made this year and after visiting the sites again, I hope to add a few to my list for next year. I found a list Kaitlyn made of gifts she was giving last year and she said "Mom we just like to make lists". She took sewing this year at school and has had a lot of fun sewing. I parted with some of my chocolate lollipop material and she made a cute bag and quilted zipper bag in class.

Today I'm trying to finish up a few Christmas gifts that didn't get done. I'm almost done with Amy's Dora apron and have a few potholders and ornaments to finish and than to start making stuff foe next year. I can usually get a lot done the two weeks after Christmas. I play Christmas music non-stop and try to craft and sew as much as I can. Jaime already told me Christmas was over. So what are you doing listening to it still.

Yesterday, yep on Christmas I rearranged/cleaned our closet because I was missing one of Amy's gifts. I found it and took some pictures of quilts I had in the closet.

My Grandma Rinehart made this little doll quilt for me over 35 or more years ago.

The Dresden plate quilt was made by my Grandma Spencer. I use to use it all the time and it has some worn spots so I put it up.

She also made these quilt squares and she wanted to finish it for me but wasn't able to, so she mailed me the squares. When she talked about Sunbonnet Ladies I was assuming the cute little girls and didn't expect these ladies. They've grown on me now. I love looking at the different materials she used in the dresses I think some of them are feed sacks. I'm not sure why she used the red and pink together. I never asked. This quilt also has some burnt marks on it from the fire we had. I wish I would have used a different fabric instead of the red and white check for the border. It was quilted by the ladies at my MIl's old church.

I have more quilts to show but the pictures aren't that great and I'll retake.

I made these ornaments for my MIL years ago. The ones I had for our tree were lost in the fire. A few have been stitched but not finished yet. My goal is to make a set for each of my daughters and a set for our tree too.

Merry Christmas!

Looking through the pictures I realized Elizabeth and Melissa didn't make it in any, I'll have to do better next time.

Christmas Eve

After meeting a friend to drop off a couple swap items, we rushed home to start on holiday baking.(kinda crazy to start at 1:00 Christmas Eve) We made fudge, peanut butter fudge, peppermint bark, peanut butter cookies and Snicker-doodles. I had planned on making a lot more but knew I was running out of time.

Later that evening we celebrated Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

It's almost here

The stockings are hung, the tree is finally decorated it had about 15 ornaments for a couple weeks until I dragged the rest of the ornaments up. I don't know who the crazy person was that took the hooks off all the ornaments and where did she put them.
I was thinking I had too many ornaments and Amy must be a mind reader because she preceded to break two. Every year I say next year will be different no craziness next year and it never happens. I have no cards sent, no letter wrote and no pictures taken. So I'll be sending after Christmas cards and will probably send one of the goofy pictures from summer if we don't get a better one taken. My house is a mess and I'm ok. We also have a guinea pig Chowder visiting from school for the Christmas break and his cage is big and the cats enjoy sitting on it or near it. Hopefully Santa won't trip over it.

Holiday Swap

The last swap is over! We met at a church that has a coffee shop and play area in it for the kids. I made these potholders for the holiday swap and these ornaments for the small swap. I don't have a picture of all the swap goodies but will have to post later.

Snow, snow and more snow

Our church had Carols,Candles and Cookies with a guest appearance by Santa Claus.

We woke up to snow and it's been snowing all day. Schools on the Missouri side were closed but kids on the Kansas side had school. I had plans to get some running done today but decided to stay home and get some sewing done and finish up my last two swaps.

Yesterday on one of the coldest days our van's power steering belt broke which made the van overheat on top of that. I was almost home but pulled over in Targets parking lot.
We had it towed and it was fixed fast so yay on the fast part.

I thought I'd share some pictures from a sprinkle we had for a friend in our preschool co-op. She is due with her second baby in January.

Christmas Stockings

These are the second set of stockings I made. The first were lost in our house fire five years ago. I tea-dyed the stocking material and think I need to do it to the name part. I ripped Amy's apart last year because it was crooked when I attached her name.

School Christmas Programs

Our grade school had to split the grades in half for the Christmas program. Jaime's was last week and Melissa was tonight. I missed Melissa's program Amy threw up right before we left. She had a pecan shell in her mouth, ate part of it and that was why she got sick, because 10 minutes after they left she was running around.
Melissa was in a short skit after they sang. The pictures aren't the best and completely out of order.

I remember one Christmas program we did I was either in 1st or 2nd grade. They had the program at a local high school so all the grades performed. Our grade did "Here comes Suzy Snowflake" the girls had white ponchos with silver trim around the edges. I have no idea what the boys wore. I loved that song and never heard it again until about five years ago.

What else more swap items, this is the doll quilt I received isn't it cute. She made it on her embroidery machine and

this is the one I made for my partner and threw in a snowman ornament and chocolate since I was running behind.

I made these Raggedy Annie ornaments last year, I'm not sure if I like the hair made with fleece I'm hoping to make one with yarn and see which one I like better.

Jaime went to Outback Steakhouse yesterday with a group of kids from her school they had a tour of the restaurant and than ate lunch. Her class went to The Suessical at Crown Center, she enjoyed it so much she wants to go back and see it again.
