Questions

1. Do you remember your first day of school?
Somewhat-- I remember getting on the wrong bus to come home. I remember the milk cartons in Kindergarten, picking out library books and napping on the mat.

2. Do you decorate for the different seasons? If so have you decorated for fall yet?
I decorate for most of the seasons. I still have my patriotic stuff up and need to start bringing out my fall stuff.

3.What food do you associate with fall?
Apples, pumpkins, soups,

4.Do you order books online, buy books in a bookstore, download to a device or frequent the library ? If not interested in books, how do you get your music?
I use the library and read a lot of books and if I decide I can't live without a book, I'll usually go with Amazon. I have a Nook but have not bought a book to read on it, call me old fashion but my favorite way to read a book is to hold a real book.

5. When was the last time you realized you were talking to someone really special?
I consider my family really special, so I'll say everyday.

Schlitterbahn Fun

It was Girl Scout Day at Schlitterbahn today, I have never been to a waterpark before, yes I know one has been in KC forever---Oceans of Fun, but my first choice would have been Worlds of Fun.  We had so much fun most of the time, one child went missing but was found going around the Torrent (lazy) River. Don't tell my kids but I want to go back without them. :-)

Questions

1. My oldest daughter has returned to college for her second year. Can I get you to give her some good wishes here? Study hard and have fun! My daughter started her senior yr of college this month. I tell her not to have too much fun.

2.Summer is about to move on, what will you miss the most? And the least? I'll miss the daylight till 8:30 or later. I love the sunshine but not the hot days in the 90's luckily this summer we haven't had as many.

3.Are you currently working on any craft, sewing, DIY home or any other creative project? I'm always working on something and have a bad habit of starting something else before the first project is finished.

4.If  you could have any treatment at a spa for free, what would it be? I've never been to a spa so I'm not sure what all they offer, so I'd say give me the works.

5.What's your favorite kind of pasta? Pasta dishes--- I love chicken Alfredo, lasagna, and a many more. I try to use brown rice pasta, but will occasionally eat whatever is on hand.

Pinned It, Made It! Monday

My mom use to make this,  pudding cake I loved it. I used 2 tablespoons of mocha hot cocoa and it had a slightly different taste, very yummy. I love it with nuts, any kind--pecans, almonds, walnuts. If you're looking for a fast and chocolaty dessert and are out of eggs, give this one a try.

What I've been doing

I've been learning/apprenticing with my friend who has a upholstery shop, mostly tearing down pieces. I have a couple pieces of our furniture that need to be recovered, hopefully soon I'll be able to get the material to work on them. Kaitlyn and I found this chair at a thrift store and passed it up  once, I ran back two days later and bought it for $7. It was pretty ugly. She had her eye on some material at JoAnn's and when we went back to buy it it was no longer in stock. My friend offered us recycled materiel in great shape for free. This is my first chair that I upholstered, my friend was nearby to help when ever I had a question which was quite often. The back piece wasn't big enough so we used this tan material for cording and the back.

I bought this foot stool at a garage sale, again my friend had extra material, it was so cute and I love the material. This also went back to school with Kaitlyn, she starts her senior year at K-State this month.

Everyone is back in school now

This little girl started 7th grade on Tuesday---how fast they grow. Doesn't she look thrilled about getting her picture taken? She had a fun first day--the 7th graders had the school to themselves--they had a scavenger hunt to find classes, she was tired when she came home.

This little girl started her junior year today. I forgot to get a morning picture (if you can tell from the bus in the background) so I got it when she came home. I was able to quit my full time job when I had her almost 17 years ago. Time flies when you're having fun.

First day of school for Amy

It's hard to believe summer vacation is over but today Amy started 2nd grade! She was excited to get back, we love her teacher, Kaitlyn and Jaime had her as their 3rd grade teacher. It's also raining cats and dogs here, I was soaked after walking back from the bus stop.

Yesterday we moved Kaitlyn and all her stuff back to K-State for her senior year. Her roommates came out and helped us unpack, I was glad, it was so much faster. I thought we'd never get done when we were packing her car and our van to get her there.

Jaime starts 7th grade tomorrow and Melissa who will be a junior starts on Wednesday. When does school start where you live?

Pinned It, Made It! Monday

We had a family reunion last weekend and I made these peanut butter bars. Looking at the recipe I see it says cake bars-- I like my bars less like cake. I was also running short on my chocolate chips so that might have helped to make them more the way I like my bars. Never fear I still ate them. :-)

We had a nice time at the family reunion, it was in Browning, Missouri. My mom grew up in North Missouri. This is two of my mom's siblings.

We didn't get a family picture, we were too busy talking and eating!

I can't even find them right now, I'm pretty sure it's just a round key holder.

Pinned It, Made It! Monday

Country Girl at Home

Melissa and Jaime wanted cookies for the camping trip they were taking with the youth group and I found this recipe for snicker doodles from Lovin' from the Oven. My cookies didn't look as pretty but they sure tasted good.

Yes--- I did make changes because I didn't have enough flour so I  added a little of Pamela's Gluten-Free baking mix.
