Mom's Day

                           Kaitlyn with House mom Carol

It's hard to believe this is the 3rd year for celebrating Mom's Day at Kappa Delta with Kaitlyn. What happened to my little girl. One more mom's day and her college years will be over (hopefully). For the silent auction, we bought a small Christmas tree at Hobby Lobby when they were marked way down. Kaitlyn painted the purple ornaments and I think her goal was to add the power cat to the black ones, but we just left them plain. I made some of the star ornaments in  K-State material and decided it need a K-State pinwheel for a tree topper. I also made a fleece K-State blanket I forgot to get a full picture of it. I bought a half yard of the K-State fleece print, and a yard of purple fleece, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. I bought another half yard of purple fleece but they didn't match, so I was back to where I started. I drew out a few ideas but was afraid getting the fleece sewed or cut straight would be a problem. So if you're still with me---- I sewed the ends/sides of the purple to the ends/sides of the K-State print--then I folded and sewed and it work!  We had a fun day, brunch was served and afterwards-- Cadence-- an acapella all men's group was the entertainment and they did a great job.(We are big Pitch Perfect fans here) They sang to the house mom.  Joining us this year was Jim's mom and sister, we hit a few stores Kaitlyn wanted to go to, had a nice lunch and then hit the road.

Stuffed Paper Dolls and a Giveaway

I ordered this stuffed paper doll with clothes from Debbie over at Barefoot Primitives. I'm going to give it to my mother-in-law for her birthday. She always likes to look at the paper doll books, and when I saw these I knew she would love it. It's hard for me to wait for May to give it too her. I picked the doll up Sunday from Debbie and she gave me a bag of goodies she was clearing out of her craft supplies. I've been having fun digging through the bag to see what I can use!

She included these memory verse tags with my order. Thanks Debbie!
Debbie is having a giveaway on her blog so make sure you check it out and sign up to win!.

Questions
1.Are you enjoying spring?
Spring has just showed up here, so it's been nice for a few days. A lot of green starting to show, magnolia trees are blooming, I haven't seen the red buds yet.
2. Where would you take Patrice for her birthday, if you could spend a day together?
Since I don't know Patrice very well, I thought about a visit to my friend Laura's farm might be fun or a visit to a local garden.
3. What's your favorite spring flower? Purple Hyacinths-- I love the smell and they are so pretty. Daffodils and tulips are my next favorite spring flowers.
4.What do you do when you are going through a really stressful time?
Pray, talk to friends, sew, craft-- make sure I do something I enjoy.
5.What kind of birthday cake would you get for Patrice? and Wendell?
Chocolate cake is always my standby and for Wendell --a carrot hay cake!

Pinned It, Made It! Monday

Isn't this a pretty cake!!! The pin doesn't link but the picture is on the pin, check it out on my April Fool's board  here. I could only find a small water balloon and I had an empty packing tape roll. I place the balloon on top and pulled out a tub of cool whip (that had been in the fridge forever since I won't eat cool whip), added the sprinkles and wallah a pretty cake.

Amy tried to cut it but she couldn't get it to cut so I had to cut it and let me tell you, there was cool whip in  our hair and all over our clothes.

Melissa is always leaving cups in her room, so I thought this would be a good one for her. I used 1/4-1/2 white glue and then made some puff paint with flour, baking powder, and red paint. I used wax paper to put under the mix and cut it away before I laid it down on the flour. She was ready to blame her little sister for spilling this in her room till she noticed it was a fake. Link to pin.

This is a plate of Brown E's-----brownie's! Amy told her dad "Mom keeps fooling us". They had fun being fooled and did get a treat that wasn't a joke.

First Soccer Game of 2013

Amy had her first soccer game of the season today! The first games usually are pretty funny, they're still not quite sure what's going on and most of the kids played 6U last year and now they are playing 8U, a bigger field, and actually goalies. In the last picture Amy seems more intent of playing with her water bottle. :-) On the way home she lost a tooth.

Our house seems a little quieter this weekend since Melissa and Jaime are at Silver Dollar City. It feels Springy around here---- I hope you're having a beautiful weekend!

Sweet Tidings Swap

Thanks Amy for hosting the The Sweet Tidings Swap over at Bumble Bee Lane.  Cindi was my swap partner and she sent me these sweet goodies, she also sent me a lot of candy!

This spring pillow is cute, cute, cute.

This little chick is super sweet, my 6 yr old was eyeing it, I think I'll have to make a few. The prim eggs smell wonderful.

I love the bunny and the Happy Spring bag!

I almost forgot the ladybug. Thanks Cindi!!

Jaime was 1 of 10 kids that were picked to get a ride home in a stretch limo from the 6th grade academy. She is my least impressed child to win this! :-) I waited to get a picture till she was out of it so I wouldn't embarrass her, so forgive my wonderful picture with a post in the middle.

I'm joining Patrice at Everday Ruralty for her weekly chat.

Questions:

1. What did you do for Easter?
We went to church and afterwards had Easter dinner at Jim's parents.
2. How bad were you with candy or treats? (On a scale of 1-10, 1 being good and 10 being sugared up)
Candy-wise I'd say a 1-- but dessert-wise it was a 10. I didn't know my sister-in-law made a chocolate pie, I thought she made angel food cake and lemon pie, so after I ate two slices of cake (two slices)  she told one of my girls there was chocolate pie, I almost came unglued :-), I was like--"Why did you wait till I had two pieces of cake???"
3. What's one of the first things you'd like to do when you have consistent spring temperatures?
Plant flowers--my husband is in charge of the veggie garden.
4. How are you at gift buying?
Sometimes good and other times not. In my head I always plan to be wonderful but then I run into reality!
5. Do you have a project in mind for the month of April?
Decluttering and hopefully work on our basement.
