Jaime's first day of 3rd grade started on the 19th of August. Melissa and Kaitlyn started a day later. So far Melissa is enjoying being in middle school. Kaitlyn is a senior playing golf and cheering.

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over. This year we only made it too the lake twice. We went a few weeks ago for a mini vacation and than drove down to visit my aunt and her family. We stopped at Ha Ha Tonka Park and hiked to the natural bridge and beyond and ended at the 318 step hike so up and down it makes it 736 steps. We didn't plan very well and started with 2 half empty water bottles we had fun and Amy made it back up most of the stairs. We did this same hike 15 years ago with a 13 yr old and a 2 yr old and 95 degrees weather after we got to the bottom some lady took pity on us and gave us a ride around to our car.
The girls had fun riding the bumper cars at Bagnell Dam. Jaime had me laughing so hard I cried every time we told her to turn the wheel a certain way she did the opposite or just kept turning till she was going around in circles backwards.
My pictures are out of order but the top ones in the water are in the North river in West Plains. We went here when we were kids and had so much fun floating around the bend and playing in the same spot these pictures were taken. Next year I'd like to make sure we bring inner-tubes so I can relive the fun with my kids.

We made it to the KC Zoo this summer on a wonderful cool day, in previous years we always seem to go when it was 90 degrees or hotter. We met up with some friends and had a fun day.

My husband came home from work with cardboard boxes. He laid them down in the garden area and cut holes where he planted the vegetables. We didn't get any straw to cover the boxes and now that the summer is almost over, I think we can live without it.
We picked a zucchini that was 15 inches long and 14 inches all the way around. There are a lot of green tomatoes and we've had a few cucumbers. The thai pepper plant is full and needs to be picked.

I made this rag flag wall hanging, and I think it's needs to be grunged up a little. So it will be getting a nice coffee or tea soak very soon.

This week is World Breastfeeding Week. The metro La Leche League groups had a fundraiser Sunday night at a local children's place. Stephanie made this wonderful cake.

I forgot to take pictures of all the t-shirts and items we made in a Batik for kids coop class but I did get one picture of a friends t-shirts. I found this idea from this blog.

Where did the summer go? Jaime starts back to school on the 19th,Melissa the 20 and Kaitlyn the 21st.
