Visiting friends on the farm

I blogged last year about our friends who bought a farm and started Synergistic Acres, they have been there for over a year now. We made it down to see them and the girls had fun seeing the baby pigs, feeding the big pigs, ice skating on a frozen creek and just seeing their friends. If your local and want to know where you food is raised and how the animals are treated, check out their blog and information about ordering from them.
I wasn't going to mentioned this but on the way down to their farm we run out of gas. My husband had stopped and the gas station we stopped out at wouldn't read the card. He planned on getting gas later but forgot. Luckily a nice lady was parked nearby and she went and bought a gas can and gas, brought it back to us and wouldn't accept any money.

Christmas Eve

Christmas wishes

My long list of Christmas goodies, ended up being cut short-- I run out of time but it was still good. fudge and buckeye bark made it, I made peanut butter fudge but it did not set up. I think I'll be looking for a different recipe next Christmas. We also made sugar cookies and snickerdoodles. Our oven isn't working right now so cooking lots of cookies in the toaster oven wasn't my idea of fun.

Cats and Trees

We put our Christmas tree up in a different location this year. Our living room is pretty small so I put a small tree in there with a lot of my prim ornaments on it.  The main tree I placed in a corner that was close to the stairs, it worked out pretty good with only a few ornaments batted down the stairs and only one broken. No cats were caught climbing in the tree, but they loved to lay under it.

Christmas Traditions

Saturday night we stopped at Fritz's for burgers, looked at Christmas lights and played around at Union Station.

Ornament Swap

My swap partner in Hannah's Homespun Ornament swap was Denise at  The Krazy Kraft Lady. She sent me these wonderful ornaments. I love the snowman with the hat, the cardinal is a favorite of ours it's the elementary school mascot.  Amy wanted to eat the snowman pop she was a little disappointed when she realized it was an ornament.
Thanks Denise.

Spirit Week

This week at school was spirit week. Monday was wear red/Chiefs, Tuesday --Super Hero day. This was a last minute make-- I turned a pink shirt inside out and sewed the S on the front and used a t-shirt for the cape with the S on the back with black magic marker. Amy added her tutu, leggings and rain boots.

Wednesday was favorite sports team, she wanted to wear K-State but I wan't done with that dress.

Today was suppose to be dress as your favorite teacher, but we are having a snow day instead. Amy was upset when she woke up and found at there was no school. Today was the Christmas/Holiday party for her class.

Sad

Snuggling with my little 6 yr old makes me think of the families that no longer will be snuggling with their 6 and 7 yr old's. So sad, my heart, prayers and thoughts go out to the families of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

More Christmas Prims

When I was working on my Gingerbread Swap, I decided to use the rusty spring to make a Christmas tree.
I used some greenery and wrap it around the wire, added a couple rusty bells attached to rusty safety pins, tied some strips of homespun and added a rusty star to the top. My gingerbread stitchery isn't exactly how I pictured it --you know those plans you think up in your head or see and try to freehand it-- but I still think he's cute.

Pinned it, Made it! Monday

I was looking for ideas for a Christmas Swap, the first place I look is through my  Prim Christmas pins and I saw a similar snowman on my board here. I was really looking at Santa's made like this but decided on a Snowman. The other project was a stick Snowman I pinned here and decided to make a stick Santa.

I'm linking up with Tammy at Country Girl at Home , make sure you check out what everybody else is pinning!

School Programs

Jaime at the 6th grade Academy Concert.

Melissa with the Turner Band. They did a wonderful performance, we especially loved the Christmas mix and the ending piece "Of Dark Lords and Ancient Kings". I've never heard that piece before, it was amazing!
