Pinned It, Made It Monday!

I had the frog material leftover from a blanket I made Melissa years ago. A few months back I signed up to use what I had on hand from my stash or unfinished projects, which~haha~ I failed that mission deadline, but at least in my defense I was also sewing stuff for our DC trip. I did get this done but still had to cut and rag it which I did over the weekend. It's not as big as I wanted but I used up all the frog material I had on hand and added that cream flannel that sticks out right in the middle.  I thought I had pinned the original on Pinterest but I found it in my email folders, I saved it before I joined Pinterest. :-)

Swap

I received this wonderful swap package from Ginny on Prim Pals, she made the potholders and included a blueberry muffin mix, liners, recipe cards, a cute tea bag holder and a few tea bags to enjoy. Thanks Ginny!

This is the swap package I sent to my partner.

It actually rained here today, not very much but hey we'll take any rain we get. We were at soccer practice and it sprinkled a little and the kids kept playing, we had about 20 minutes left and it started coming down harder, so we headed home.

Pinned it, Made it Monday!

I pinned this recipe on Pinterest from the Goddess of Scrumptiousness.
Spaghetti in Garlic Gravy with Herbs and Lemon Marinated Chicken and Cherry Tomatoes

I made this last week and was short a few items, my picture doesn't do the meal justice. It was wonderful and I'm adding this to our rotation. As you can tell I left out the cherry tomatoes, only because we didn't have them, I also use dried herbs to replace the fresh ones, and can you believe I only have a 1/4 stick of butter even with all that changed it turned out great. I didn't think a couple of the girls would eat it, so I  warmed up some red sauce, they choose this delicious meal over the red sauce.    I'm linking up with Tammy at Country Girl at Home.

While I was picking up the living room I found a perfect spot for some Polly Pockets!

Melissa's first day

This is my last back to school post! :-) Melissa started 10th grade today. Wow where does the time go? She is on the girls golf team and wants to do year round swimming with the rec group. She also will be staying busy with the marching band, first home game is in a few weeks.

Jaime's first day

Today Jaime started 6th grade, this year they moved all the 6th graders out of the grade schools into their own school and moved the P-K and K back into the grade school. They will be using IPads instead of text books in the class rooms. Jaime is not big on change so it will take a little adjusting for her. She was excited that they had exploratory classes and has Art class every other day. She also is taking Pre-Algebra, I can't wait to see what she things about that class.

First day of school for Amy

Amy started first grade today, she was pretty excited this morning! This is my baby and this is the first year for us to be apart so I have a lot of adjusting to do. Sometimes the house is so quiet, I'll start to go check on her and realize she's not here.

Cool day at the zoo

First time on the sky trams at the zoo.

This animal was running loose at the zoo!!!

                 Aren't these turtles cute?
They built a new tiger run at the zoo this year, it gives the tigers more room to roam.  It was a wonderful cool day with a nice breeze blowing, high 80's any day over 100 degree days that had been hammering the KC area.

Ditty Bag Swap

Linda was my swap partner in Amy's Prim Ditty Bag Swap, she sent me a wonderful box full of goodies.

This little crow is a cutie I love the rusty bell eye.
This is the ditty bag, very prim and smells wonderful!

My pictures aren't doing the swap justice, besides the above items, she sent these two prim towels, flag pillow tuck, the cross stitched crow and the pillow behind everything. Thanks Linda!!!!

Headed back to college

Yesterday we loaded up our van and Kaitlyn's car and headed to K-State. The summer seems to go so fast, this summer Kaitlyn worked full time at the Rec Day Camp. We were still able to squeeze some crafting time in and shopping at JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby and Hancock Fabrics.  We always have more things to make than time and she also has to have time for hanging with her friends.  This is her junior year at K-State and we still miss her like crazy. I always hear some parents say after the first year it wasn't bad, I think the first year is the hardest but I've still felt sad the following years when she's left.
Picasa wasn't letting my crop the pictures for some reason so you get to see all our loveliness on our deck in these pictures. In the two top pictures, we were trying to get a picture of the skirt Kaitlyn made when Amy decided she need to be in the pictures too, the bottom was when Kaitlyn packed her lunch in her Coraline lunchbox, all the girls at day camp loved Coraline. I was joking with her when I took her picture, but thought I'd include it in.  I never seem to remember to take pictures when we drop her off each year, but I also remember how I hated when my mom wanted to take my picture at camp or other places when people would be gawking at you. Now I wish I would have had the pictures of me at Camp Fire Camp because the camp no longer exists, except in my memories.

Pinned it, Made it Monday!

My daughter Kaitlyn who is headed back to K-State tomorrow for her Junior year, made this dress. A few of her friends had similar dresses and she wanted to make one for an upcoming event at her sorority house. She made one loosely based on this pin   and this one too. If I can get a picture of her friends dress, I'll add that later. Her skirt is a black t-shirt cut off and she added elastic at the waist. She used a wide polka dot material to make the tie that goes through the front and back. The back is the same size as the front of the shirt. The dress is really cute and we both are planning on making more, we stocked up at the thrift store a week ago, we have some KU lovers in the house so that's what I hope to make soon..
