I'm late to switching--

I read my blog on Blogger-- I tried Google Reader but didn't care to read blogs that way. I've been planning to change since Google reader is closing and I haven't heard if you would still be able to read on Blogger, so better safe than sorry. I signed up with Bloglovin and Feedly.  So my question is when I switch my feed over does that automatically mean I've switched my followers to both or just what I read. I'm assuming just what I read and my followers have to choose one or the other to follow my blog.
Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I added a Feedly button and willbe back with a bloglovin button too.

Last Friday at the Drive-In

We had a fun night at the Blvd Drive-In last week----we made it there extra early to get a good spot. Last year we showed up late and ended up on the last row but was able to move up after the first movie. Monsters University was a cute movie, everybody enjoyed it. I liked Superman of what I saw of it-- I fell asleep. Note to myself--next time when cleaning out the water jug make sure to wash the lid also--otherwise your water will have all sorts of floaters and you will have to dump it. Take double the amount of water then you think you need-------Amy went through all the water bottles before the movie started.

T-ball

I need to sprinkle some dirt around!
What?? Why do you keep saying Amy??

Tuesday night at the T-ball field--- I love T-ball! We always spend the night laughing between watching the race for the ball-where half the players join in the fun, or the kid who happens to catch the ball by accident or the runner who is bound and determined to out run the catcher. Amy had her first time to play pitcher in the game, she spent the inning playing in the dirt, dancing around, and she did a little running after the ball.
T-ball season is ending and next year she'll be in coach pitch, so not as many laughs but always fun to watch your kid play ball.

We met up with our friends at the spray park for an afternoon of play.

1.Do you enjoy grocery shopping?
Sometimes
2.Are you following any particular new stories?
No-- I quit watching the news and just read the paper. I will turn it on for something big like when the tornado hit Moore, Oklahoma.  I found that I feel better not watching the news nightly.
3.How do you feel about all the new technology we have today? Is it too much, just right or not enough.
In some cases I love it, ----I love having information instantly. I also think it's an overload, everybody is so busy looking something up on there phone they forget to stop and look around and it's ok if we don't know what just happened. So eh complete opposite answers.
4.On a scale of 1-10 (1 being the least), how much do you worry?
I'd say between 4-5
5. Without any of your responsibilities or concerns with how you would accomplish this, what would your three dream jobs be?
Humm-- don't know if I can come up with three--- I would love to be paid to craft and design. I also think it would be fun to be a private detective, some mystery books make it look fun-- till you get beat up. I use to think I'd like to be an Interior Decorator but I'm not always good with matching colors. Who knows what my dream job would be??  Maybe I should spend more time thinking of what it would look like but maybe I'm already living it---I always wanted to be a stay at home mom--so I guess I'm living my dream job without pay..... :-)

1. Is there a friend or relative that has been on your mind a lot lately?
Yes, a relative.
2. Do you sunburn?
Not a lot
3.If you were visiting my farm for a week (or weekend)  would you want to cook with me, pick veggies or pull weeds with the farm crew or just feed Wendell carrots until he outgrew his horse suit?
I would like to cook with you.
4. Do you like to tell jokes or hear them?
Both-- I like to be funny but also like to laugh. My mom was always trying to crack a joke or make somebody laugh.
5.Do you wear sunglasses often?
No-- I wear glasses and use to have the sun shades that fit your glasses. If one of my older girls leaves a pair of big sunglasses in the van, I'll slip them on over my glasses, until they are claimed.

Pinned It, Made It! Monday

Country Girl at Home

.

This is another item I've made before Pinterest but since I had a busy week, I'm using it. I've made at least ten ring slings as gifts over the years. I loved my sling, I wish I had one for all my children but only my youngest two were worn in a sling. I used some other old-fangled carriers for  baby 2 and baby 3 and just my arms for baby 1. I miss those sling days but I'm happy not having a baby! I have a lot of wonderful memories of wearing my girls. This sling was made from muslin and I added a strip of blue material to give it some color. Here's the link to make your own sling. I did not pleat my top like she shows in the original  post, I used one of the other links she shares. I like to have a little padding on the sides, so I double over the material.   Did you use a carrier with your babies? I couldn't believe how helpful they were especially with a breastfeeding baby. I usually had one baby strapped to me chasing down another kid. :-)

This is a picture of Amy and I in Chicago at the La Leche League Conference back in 2007. I'm wearing an Over The Shoulder Baby Holder--which is my all time favorite sling. I also have a sling for using in the summer or water along with a couple other ones! :-)

Here are a couple old pictures with Jaime in the sling--when we were in Colorado 2001 and 2002.

La Leche League Conference

Late night talking

more late night talking!
 Dr Jack Newman

I had a fun time this weekend in Columbia at the La Leche League Conference. It was the first locally one I went to without my family. It was great to see friends and learn new ways to help moms with breastfeeding. I also attended an organizing session and need to get started on that.

We had to get home to spend the rest of Father's Day with our families.

Darth

This is one of the sweet kittens we found in our yard, three years ago. The mother was a stray cat and very young. We found two on our deck and two in the yard. We put them in a tub during the day and when the mom would show up we'd plop them outside for her. She moved them and we found them in our shed, as they grew they started coming out of the shed, we'd blocked it so they couldn't climb out but they did. The mom was named Sweetie----and she has not lived up to that name. We finally moved them inside almost all the time. We have wandering dogs in the neighborhood and she wasn't staying with them.  We had Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and what was suppose to be Chewbaca but we switched it to Fatty McFatty. Princess Leia died very young and Luke found a new home. So Darth and Fatty have stayed with us. Fatty liked going out and Darth didn't till recently. We think a dog got a hold of her, we found her behind our shed. She was a sweet cat and you hardly knew she was around. She is missed!

Pinned It, Made It! Monday

We made these swaps for Girl Scout Camp.  For the spider we cut the pipe cleaners in fourths and added the bead to the middle and just bent the legs till we liked it. The Daisy swap we used wire and had to move the wire around to get the middle to work for us, in this pin they made bracelets and used lanyard cord.

I also made the delicious recipe that Debbie at The Paper Garden posted last week. I made it almost exact to the original recipe---I did add more garlic because I like it spicier. You can see from the pan everybody loved it.  I'm linking up with Tammy at Country Girl at Home. Make sure you see what everybody else is making.

Lake of the Ozarks

It was a cool day at the Lake of the Ozarks, this water was chilly! Jaime and Amy had no trouble getting in and enjoying the dirty water of the Ozarks! Further out it's a lot clearer but close to the shore it's a little muddy. We like to look for old glass in the lake to add to our collection.

Flowers

Blanket Flower who knows how it ended up here, it just grew.

Anybody know what type a flower or weed this is?

 Missouri Prim Rose
I love Peonies --we also have a white one that bloomed earlier. I'd love to add more to our yard. Growing up we had so many in the yard. I planted a ton of peonies we dug up from my sister- in-laws yard but they didn't all grow.
Our poor Hostas--are being eaten alive!
What's growing in your yard? Looks like I need to be pulling weeds before it gets too hot this summer.

Questions

1. When it comes to vegetables, which do you use most often--canned, frozen or fresh?
It depends on the season---but my preference is fresh-- if not on hand---  frozen and last canned.
2. Do you sew?
Yes-- I love to sew ---crafts, quilts, I don't sew a lot of clothes from start to finish, but like to take what I have and make it into something else.
3. Do you have a common fear? such as heights, spiders, snakes, small spaces, flying, etc?
I don't have a common fear--spiders don't make me run, I smoosh them if my 12 yr old isn't around. Snakes are okay unless I'm surround by them running amok. I don't fly often but after 9/11-- I flew from Chicago to Kansas City (I took the Mega Bus to Chicago) I felt a little edgy.
4. Is there anything you recommend for cutting the grocery bill?
Don't buy junk!
5. Tell me about something that made you happy over the past week.
My 7 year was so excited about going to Girl Scout camp and sleeping in a tent. Sleeping in my own bed the next night made me very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pinned It, Made It! Monday

I hate using plastic wrap and decided to make some

As I was making these, I felt like I was having deja vu--I really think I made one before but couldn't find where I blogged about it or the finished project.   I  used two pieces of cotton and since I didn't have the correct size of elastic I cut what I had in half. :-) For the pattern I pulled out a big plate and added a few inches around the side. I want to make a few with patriotic/ 4th of July material to use this summer. I think I'll try another tutorial for that one. Below are a few I had pinned but I know there are more out there!

I really like this one, it's neat and no ragged edges--if I was making one for a gift this would be great.

I also had a pin  for making the elastic band part only ----  you could use a tea towel or whatever you had on hand to place over the bowl, I think I was looking to hard for that pin and could not find it, I know it's there somewhere.
