Amy was super excited about the Halloween party. We played ghost bowling and bean bag toss, after the Halloween parade.

Trunk & Treat

Trunk and Treat at the grandparents church:  I used a dress pattern I had for Amy's Dorothy dress, picked up the shirt and ruby slippers at the thrift store. Jaime wanted me to make a Pokemom costume but she changed it to a simpler character, one of the Ranger Apprentice's. I dug through my fabric stash and found a gray that we sprayed some green fabric paint on it to give it a mottled look, I added a hood but used a gray wool sweater piece that she said didn't look right, so off it came. We used some brown fleece to make an arrow bag and she left her bow at home.

Thanks Jody.

Thanks Giving Swap

I was surprised when I opened this box, I was expecting another swap and assumed that was what I was opening.I kept pulling packages out and finally stopped and looked at the name and realized it was the Thanks Giving Swap.  Michelle sent me all sorts of goodies.

She made the Give Thanks table runner, along with this cute pilgrim couple. Behind the couple is a journal she made and a sweet woolen Christmas stitchery. I'm loving the Halloween towel and the scented pine cones. Thanks Michelle. Your swap package will be mailed out next week.

This swap was hosted by Wendy.

Missing my mom

Seven years ago today my mom passed away. I miss her. I need to dig out some pictures and get them uploaded. I like to remember my mom looking like this because when she passed away she looked so different. She had Alzheimer's and was in the nursing home for five years before she passed away.

Pinned It, Made It Monday

I'm getting this in late, since it's pinned it, made it! Monday---I had to back date it since it's really Tuesday when I uploaded the pictures.:-)

Well today's Pinned it Made it is a easy one I made for a swap. I saw these big witch's brooms  and decided to make a smaller version. The original pin I pinned just linked to a picture, I also found this one pinned. I just gathered some small twigs and used a bigger one for the handle. I wrapped with jute and then tied it with aged cheesecloth. I added a tag that says free rides.

I also made this cute little ghost.

Last home football game for 2012

The last home game of the season was Friday night, the band was wonderful, they've been performing "We Got the Funk." They competed at Washburn in Topeka, a few weeks ago and won 2nd place. All the seniors are wearing the blue shirts for senior night. The stocking hats were for Breast Cancer awareness, they were made for the Turner parade that was cancelled due to the weather. After their performance they were joined by the Goldenettes and the 7th and 8th grade band.  Now we'll need to find something else to do with our Friday nights!!

Pinned it, Made it Monday

The pin I made today is one that I pinned a long time ago, when I pulled my Halloween decorations out I grabbed this old trick or treat pumpkin and some Christmas lights. I couldn't find the branches in our yard, but yesterday while picking up walnuts at my in-laws, I found two on the burn pile.

Here is the link to the original: Tammy at A Primitive Place blogged about it last year here. I still have crows to add to the tree branches. My 12 yr old asked "Why there was a Christmas Tree on the porch?" Whatever kid!

Our parade was cancelled!

Usually this time of year I would be showing you pictures of the Turner Day Parade but not this year, it rained at the beginning and they ended up cancelling it and didn't rescheduled it. There were a lot of disappointed people, hopefully next year they will plan ahead better and make sure they have a rain-out permit. Here's a couple pictures from last year.

School was out Friday and we went to the Kansas City Zoo..

Autumn/Halloween Decorating

I finally dug my autumn and halloween stuff out today. On one side of the mantle, I placed my Party Lite bones collection. The witch's boot, hat and candy corn were from an ornie swap on Prim Pals last year.

The cute fall stitchery was from a recent swap and the scarecrow head is from the ornie swap.
This is the autumn side, isn't that a cute pumpkin stichery?
Without the flash the paint color looks washed out and with the flash it shows the true color. It's hubbard squash, we love that paint color.

I found this cute Pyrex dish with lid at a thrift store the other day, along with a white shirt and red shoes for Amy's Dorothy costume.

Pinned it, Made it Monday

I've been wanting to make a picnic blanket, I saw on Pinterest (I didn't add the ties). Years ago I made a blue jean quilt, no backing, no binding, we used it for all sports events but if the ground was wet so were we. I found the tablecloth material in the remnants at JoAnn's. The squares are from a quilt square swap from the La Leche League 50th Anniversary Conference in 2007 that was held in Chicago. I have a few left over that I'll use with some other LLL memorabilia and make a small quilt or wall hanging or who knows what I might come up with in the meantime.  I used 4 squares across and 5 down,  I ended up cutting some squares in fourths to make it match the size of the backing,  I used embroidery floss to tie the quilt.  I'm linking up with Tammy at Country Girl at Home.

Luna was following me around while I was taking pictures. Have a great Monday!

Pinned it, Made it Monday

I wanted to make some salsa and found this recipe and picture from Six Sisters' Stuff. I made a few changes since I was lacking a few ingredients, I only had pickled jalapenos, so I used those instead and no lime juice. It tasted wonderful but need to add more jalapenos because I love spicy and it wasn't hot enough for me.

Isn't this a pretty picture? My husband had been feeling under the weather last week and I had just pinned this recipe  for a home remedy. So he made it up and he added garlic. He also took a bigger dose then was suggested, he said he felt he could smell and breathe better a few hours later.

I am sewing and making prims but need to finish and take photos so hopefully soon.
