Two swaps done

This stocking was for Stocking full of Cheer swap I did a good job of covering everything I stuck in the stocking.

These goodies are what I sent my swap partner in the Dashing through the Snow swap.

Sometimes I think I'm crazy when I'm hurrying around trying to get swaps done but it's fun making things and than receiving boxes in the mail full of goodies.

These ornaments are from the swap on Sewing Mamas. I'm missing a patchwork stocking and need to find where it's ran off too.

These goodies are from the playfood swap with our preschool co-op. Amy will be finding these in her Christmas stocking (as long as I get it finished), an ice cream cone and a popsicle along with apple and kiwi slices.

Meet Bob, he's been with our family since early October. Jaime went with her Brownie troop to a pumpkin patch and brought Bob home with her. I'm not sure why she named him but he's been to school for awhile, I found him sitting on are bed one night and in many other areas of our house. She wouldn't let me cut him up to cook and he's sitting outside now, no longer on the slide it looks like he slid down. We're hoping to place him in his final resting spot in our back yard close to the compost pile and meet his offspring next year.

A late Birthday post

Melissa turned 12 in November. Her Aunt Julie made her cake if you have any Webkinz fans in your house you probably recognized the Wheel of Wow cake this was the party at Grandma and Grandpa's house. She also celebrated with her friends at our house the day before with a Clue party she planned everything based on the game. They had a fun time. We made a cookie cake and I made the frosting and she added peppermint extract instead of almond while I was out of the room and frosted it before I got back. It tasted horrible and it was ten minutes before the party, so the girls scrapped the frosting off. One girl said it tasted like toothpaste at the dentist. I have no pictures of that party because Kaitlyn had a Cheer competition the same day. I couldn't talk Melissa out of changing the date because two of her friends would be out of town the following week.

Snowman ornament swap

I mailed out my Snowman ornament swap today, a day late but it's on it's way to Courtney. I feel like I'm making a dent in the swaps and hopefully be sewing Christmas gifts next week. Yeah I'm crazy.

I have to make a run to JoAnn's to finish this swap up. Sixteen done three more to go.
I lighten my pictures in Picasa but when I uploaded them to my blog there dark again. If you click you can see them better.

Swaps and sadness

These are the ornaments I sent in to the swap on Sewing Mamas. I was planning on making something else but when I looked at the deadline these ornaments were on there way. Now I'm finishing up more of these for a local ornament swap.
I found them on this blog and have a few more to finish.
I have five more swaps I'm working on and need to finish them up.

I've felt like an emotional mess these last few days. I think about my mom and the Christmas memories come flooding through. The ornaments,Christmas music, decorations, candy making, cooking making, gifts for teachers, Camp Fire Girl Christmas parties, Christmas programs at school, the stockings she made, the warmth of the house, sewing, the Christmas food - the ones I loved and the ones I hated.
She passed away 3 years ago in October from complications from Alzheimer's at the age of 72. The mom I loved had been gone a long time before that day. She moved in to the nursing home when I was pregnant with Jaime and passed away when I was pregnant with Amy. I try to think back to the last good conversation I had with her and it has to be somewhere around 13 years ago. I have some pictures I need to scan so I can post them there. A couple back in the 50's of her, my dad, my aunt and uncle they're decorating a Christmas tree.

There's a scene in the movie You've Got Mail where Meg Ryan is decorating a Christmas tree and she talking about missing her mom more at Christmas and she goes on to explain how it feels like she can't breathe, and that how I feel sometimes.

After writing the above I ran into a friend at a store and felt much better.
